A New Quality of Life
April 24, 2014
Bill Pillsbury, Executive Director – BreatheAmerica El Paso As executive director I have been able to get a unique perspective on the ways in which people deal with compromised breathing. This year BreatheAmerica will participate in a number of health fairs in our area. These will vary from school districts to universities, large employers, city government, county government and the state. We also maintain a presence at local events like the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Braden Aboud Memorial Run/Walk and others.
At these health fairs and community events I am able to talk with people of all ages who are struggling with airway issues and not enjoying the quality of life they desire. Many of the parents that I speak with have children who frequently have difficulty breathing and are forced to limit their activities. For many of these people I have been able to listen, answer questions and encourage them to come to our center for treatment and care.
It’s always exciting and rewarding to talk with these folks after visiting our center. They are absolutely thrilled with the new quality of life they are experiencing. It is especially exciting to see parents whose kids are now participating in activities that were previously off limits. Having had three of our four kids suffer with asthma and allergies, I can relate to the satisfaction of finally seeing your kids be able to be kids.
