Michael Skiera, President & CEO

Michael SkieraPresident & CEO

The leader at BreatheAmerica’s corporate headquarters, President and CEO Michael Skiera’s background spans more than 30+ years in the healthcare field, overseeing sales, marketing, distribution, manufacturing, and operations.

A diverse healthcare executive, Mike has a long history of nurturing successful teams and businesses, as well as, little known fact, a 9 year stint as a play-by-play football broadcaster for the local high school near his family’s home!

Mike has always had a passion for medicine and healthcare. Originally pursuing pre-dentistry at the University of South Florida, he eventually declared for biology, with a microbiology focus. It was during this time that Mike first worked in a hospital for 2.5 years prior to graduation. Throughout this time, “a wise physician took [him] under his wing and pointed [him] toward management,” he says and never looked back. Since then, he has built a proven track record of building strong teams and leading those teams to solid/strong business results, while maintaining a customer-focused approach to care.

Mike often tells people he is “from parts unknown” as he has lived, studied, and worked from coast to coast. After being born in Connecticut Mike’s family, native Rhode Islanders, moved to back to Rhode Island and then later Florida.  Mike’s  professional career has taken him and his family on a tour of the country. The foundation of his career was built on more than 11 years with American Hospital Supply/Baxter Healthcare, which put him on the executive track. From there, Mike held VP and President position with Lecia, Inc., NeuroCare Group, and Beltone Electronics. Mike most recently served as President and CEO of TherEX Inc., a full service provider of physical therapy / rehabilitation services.

As an active participant in his community, Mike has served for on the Board of the Brentwood High School football booster club and on the Board of Brentwood Lacrosse promoting the sport in Williamson County. He and Ann, his wife of more than 30 years, have three grown children: Kyle, Trevor, and Jordan.

Mike brings solid experience, leadership, value driven results and focus to BreatheAmerica. To read more about his vision, read his CEO Blog: The BreatheAmerica Healthcare Delivery Model.
