Airway Disease Prevalence
Airway diseases are chronic diseases that are on the rise in the United States, as well as increasing world-wide. The sheer vastness of airway disease indicates an urgent need for a physician led airway disease program.
- Suffers of airway disease significantly outnumber the combined suffers of diabetes, cancer, heart disease, stroke, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease
- Approximately 25%, or nearly 75 million people, of the US population are affected by airway diseases
- Allergy, effecting some 50 million people, is the 5th leading chronic disease, 3rd among children
- Asthma alone has doubled in the past 20 years and now affects 25 million people, while chronic sinusitis affects nearly 37 million people
A nationwide survey found that more than half (54.6%) of all U.S. citizens test positive to one or more allergens.
Allergic diseases affect as many as 40 to 50 million Americans.
Approximately 12% of Americans under the age of 45 have symptoms of chronic sinusitis.
About 70% of asthmatics also have allergies.
