Tiffany Smith, a care provider at BreatheAmerica Albuquerque, is new to the Physician Assistant world but brings with her tremendous experience in people-care.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry Education from the University of Utah, Tiffany went on to be a high school Chemistry teacher—dedicating herself to the knowledge and care of her students and to leadership within her schools—for nearly a decade.
She realized that she wanted to be a Physician Assistant when her second child was born with complications in 2012. Though that time in the NICU was difficult, it was there that Tiffany was surrounded by the incredibly supportive nurses and doctors that inspired her to pursue a career in medicine.
Since being in PA school and participating in clinical rotations in a variety of medical fields, Tiffany has found that she is most interested in taking care of patients as individuals and supporting their families. Just as she did with her former Chemistry students, she has enjoyed forming relationships with patients. She firmly believes that the most healing occurs when patients feel respected and cared for as individuals.
When she’s not at BreatheAmerica, Tiffany and her family (two young boys and husband of 13 years, James), love being outdoors. If you’re looking for her, you’ll probably find her hiking or exploring new places with all her boys or engaging in some of her personal favorites: reading, cooking, and crafting!
