Do Home Sinus Remedies Work?
May 22, 2019
When patients come to us at BreatheAmerica, they’ve usually been living with the pains of asthma, allergies, and sinus infections their whole lives. They’ve tried everything under the sun to get relief! The problem is that surface-level solutions will never work long-term. Only with a truly personalized treatment plan will you find lasting results. However, if you’re reading this blog looking for an immediate solution to your sinus pain, we do have a few tricks up our sleeves that you may not have heard of:
You may have seen these funny looking tools on your favorite blogger’s page. While we can’t speak to the cosmetic benefits of a Gua Sha facial or massage, we can attest that using them to relieve sinus pain often works! Simply move the jade tool, starting in the middle of your forehead and scraping out towards your temple and down, repeatedly. Then, do the same on the other side of your forehead. Find a video tutorial here.
A classic favorite! We recommend rolling a towel at the foot of your bathroom door to create a steam room. You can also try incorporating eucalyptus into your shower routine to open up those sinuses. Oh—and adding the Gua Sha technique mentioned above would be another way to make this the sinus-blasting shower of your dreams.
Lastly, there are some foods you can eat to mitigate sinus pressure. Garlic is the most powerful, but we also recommend leafy greens, ginger, and chili peppers! Find a whole blog post on eating for sinus relief here.
