BreatheAmerica Shreveport has been blessed to have Holly Scurlock as a Physician Assistant at our practice. Finding great reward in the diagnosis and treatment of her patients and watching their quality of life improve, Holly has found great motivation and personal satisfaction within the allergy and asthma field.
From a young age, Holly would tell people that she wanted to be a doctor when she grew up. With an inner drive to take care of the people around her, Holly shadowed many different healthcare professionals during her undergraduate studies at Louisiana State University, including physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. This practical knowledge led Holly to further explore the PA profession, finding its flexibility in types of specialties to be the perfect choice for her career!
After completing her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Harding University in 2012, Holly served as a Physician Assistant at a local urgent care treatment center before joining BreatheAmerica in November of 2014. Holly’s Master of Science project focused on “Healthy Hands”, a study focusing on educating children on the importance of hand hygiene and vaccination. She has also been a member of the American Association of Physician Assistants (AAPA), the Louisiana Academy of Physician Assistants (LAPA), and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA).
Holly also has a professional interest in dermatology, electing to complete two rotations in the dermatology field during PA school. For her, learning more about the skin and applying that knowledge at BreatheAmerica is an essential way to enhance our allergy practice.
Describing herself as “very type A,” Holly can often be found cooking, entertaining, and planning many activities in her personal life. She enjoys camping and hunting with her husband Peter and son, Abram, growing vegetables in her home garden, and traveling with the people she loves most.
